Laurie is a storyteller – her life experiences have captivated people in her autobiographical musical, book, and everyday conversations for decades. Plus, she has been described as having the best smile and an infectious laugh. Her perspective is fresh and uplifting, yet realistically truthful. And faith is integrated throughout her life without judgement as she understands the nuances of everyone's lived experiences. So, when a friend recommends that she do a video podcast, it sounds like a logical step once her current projects are on a path to completion. She loves to tell her story to friends, strangers, and groups of people who like to hear uplifting tales.
And yet, when that same friend calls six hours later and says he was praying about the podcast idea and he says it should be done now - at the same time as Laurie is writing her second book- that seemed a bit rushed. Laurie’s first experience writing a book required her to sequester herself in a hotel room to relive all the tough times so the emotion of the experience and words on the page were in sync. But the trials that will be covered in the second book were different. They weren’t a one-on-one battle against cancer. These were years of a journey filled with people who had shared experiences, a common bond, and a mutual respect and understanding of what these trials entailed and how her faith was the foundation. And she started to smile about the idea of sharing the microphone with others in real time. Hearing the laughs, likely shedding some tears, and just talking about their memories. And it made sense.
So starting in May of 2026, podcast episodes have been recorded, and more are on the calendar. As Laurie puts the structure in place to have a weekly podcast, please stay connected for more updates because as soon as they go live, we’ll let you know.
